The concept of Sassi Momma
began to materialize on vacation in Kissimmee, Florida; a few months after
Nicole Hawkins, CEO & Designer, gave birth to her second daughter. While
having a few cocktails, Nicole and ShaShawnna Wrenn, COO, began conversing
about the prehistoric appearance of a new diaper bag Nicole had just purchased
and the inconvenience of carrying both a diaper bag and a handbag. The ladies
began to chat about starting a business and that’s when their Aha! Moment hit
them; why not combine a diaper bag and a handbag into one, and also create it
to assist all women with handbag organization. The bags would be
multifunctional and be able to help women relieve stress that sometimes may be
caused by searching for belongings on the inside of their handbags, such as
keys, a baby's pacifier, or a cellular phone. The bags would also be elegant,
stylish, and like no other!
That night, without
knowing much about the fashion design industry, Nicole designed over fourteen D’imorga
Handbags and Oversized Clutch bags in one night. Forming an array of colors and
sketches, they created a one-of-a-kind, elegant, and SASSI leather D’imorga
Handbag line that catered to moms and women in general.
Once back from
vacation, Nicole revealed the concept and sketches of the Handbags with her
coworker Alease Curry-Williams, CFO of Sassi Momma, and with Nicole’s passion
and enthusiasm, Alease was amazed and realized that this may just be a dream
come true for her, hence she became the first investor and was announced as the
third partner of Sassi Momma.
The women of Sassi Momma are
realizing that with dedication, persistence, and faith, nothing is impossible.
It has been a journey to them. From forming the company’s logo, their D’imorga
Handbag collection, to producing sample prototypes for manufacturing; this has
become a dream come true for the trio. They are seeing life in an entirely new
manner, and it’s called SASSI MOMMA…
